Things are looking bright for Kapuso singer Garret Bolden as he is set to play in the theatrical production of the renowned “Miss Saigon” musical in Guam. He will play the role of John Thomas, the best friend of the show’s male lead.

The singer shared the good news on his Instagram account, revealing that he prayed hard for this opportunity as it has always been a dream of his to do theater.

He added, “I know that joining Miss Saigon is one for the books. As a singer, I know that I would grow and learn more as I try new things in this career.”

The Soul Balladeer also thanked his Kapuso family for their never ending support. Bolden is a finalist in GMA Network’s singing competition “The Clash” and a regular in their Sunday variety show “All-Out Sundays”.

He ended his post by promising to be back soon. “Until then, please pray for me. Kasama ko kayo sa journey na ito,” he wrote.

Miss Saigon is a stage musical based on the 1904 opera by Giacomo Puccini, “Madame Butterfly”. It tells the tragic romance of Chris, an American sergeant, and Kim, a young Vietnamese orphan who works as a bargirl in the Saigon brothel run by the Engineer, a French-Vietnamese hustler. The two fall in love but are then separated by war.

Singer and actress Lea Salonga became part of the original cast, playing the lead role, Kim, in the West End and Broadway productions of the musical in 1989 and 1991, respectively.
