Always fighting for justice and honor, Pinoy lawyer Raphael Pangalangan received the 2023 Outstanding Young Lawyer Award at the International Bar Association (IBA) Conference 2023 held last November 2 in Paris.

Pangalangan handled cases of the Philippine drug war in both domestic and foreign courts; he had once challenged the Philippines’ Anti-Terorrism Act of 2020 by filing a writ of amparo for red-tagging victims.

IBA shared on Facebook Pangalangan’s short speech upon receiving the award, wherein he shared that his accomplishment is also a recognition of the victims that lawyers represent, adding that their occupation turns into a vocation.

Pangalangan was formerly the advocacy head of CenterLaw’s International Remedies projects, for which he was recognized as a distinguished human rights defender in the Ignite Awards in June 2023.

He continued to serve as a Special Counsel for International Law in the Philippines and the State of New York under the Ocampo and Suralvo Law Offices.

His unwavering commitment to his profession sets the example of living the pledge of public service, becoming the instrument of change while pushing for political justice.
