The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed various road projects enabling farmers to easily transport their produce to consumers and markets in Baler, Aurora.

The projects were implemented by the Aurora District Engineering Office under a DPWH-Department of Agriculture (DA) convergence program.

District Engineer Roderick Andal said in a statement on Tuesday that the PHP9.9 million road projects include the paving of local roads in six different locations in Baler with a combined length of 1.7044 lane kilometers as well as the completion of three gravel roads with a total length of 0.9824 lane kilometers.

He cited the importance of improving the agricultural infrastructures that would allow farmers to efficiently transport their products to major markets in and outside of Baler.

“These improvements aim to enhance daily commuting convenience and facilitate the transportation of agricultural products in the area,” Andal said.

Aside from boosting the agricultural economy, he said the newly completed roads also facilitate better access to basic services such as health, education, and trade.

He also said the DPWH is continuously undertaking road projects that will provide residents and travelers easy access not only to agricultural communities but also to the tourism destinations in Aurora.

“The construction of these roads will benefit the residents as they will connect local roads to provincial and national routes, creating a more extensive network,” Andal added.

The projects were funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act. (PNA)
