The Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) turned over Tuesday a rescued brown serpent eagle to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Guiguinto town.

In an interview, Katrina Anne Bernardo-Balingit, Provincial Public Affairs Office chief, said the bird measures one foot tall, with a wingspan of four feet and weighing approximately two and a half kilograms.

The distressed serpent eagle was found last Feb. 9 by Rufino Lañada of Barangay Sta. Rita, who immediately handed it over to the Provincial Engineer’s Office in Barangay Tabang.

Balingit said the bird was subsequently relocated to the Official Residence of the Provincial Government of Bulacan where it was cared for for more than a week.

She added that the serpent eagle will be transferred to the Manila Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City. (PNA)
