House of Representatives Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Thursday greeted Muslim Filipinos and the global Muslim community at the start of Ramadan, calling the holy month a time for discipline, sacrifice, and solidarity.

In a statement, Dy described Ramadan as a sacred period of fasting, prayer, and reflection that strengthens faith and deepens compassion for others.

“Ang Ramadan ay panahon ng pag-aayuno, taimtim na pagdarasal, at mas malalim na pagninilay. Ito ay paalala ng kahalagahan ng disiplina, sakripisyo, at malasakit sa kapwa (Ramadan is a time of fasting, solemn prayers, and deep meditation. This reminds us of the value of discipline, sacrifice, and compassion to fellowmen),” he said.

Dy urged Filipinos to reinforce unity and peace in their communities during the season.

“Sa diwa ng Ramadan, nawa’y lalo nating pagtibayin ang pagkakaisa, kapayapaan, at malasakit sa ating mga komunidad (In the spirit of Ramadan, may we reinforce unity, peace, and compassion in our communities),” he said.

On behalf of the House, he expressed solidarity with Muslim communities and called on leaders to serve with humility and integrity.

“May this season renew your faith, strengthen your families, and inspire all of us to lead and serve with humility, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the common good. Ramadan Mubarak,” he added.

Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez also extended his warmest greetings to Muslim communities across the Philippines, especially in the Bangsamoro and throughout Mindanao.

“Ramadan is a month of spiritual renewal — a time of discipline, humility, and compassion. Through fasting and worship, the faithful deepen their commitment to righteousness, generosity, and service to others. It is a powerful reminder that faith shapes character, and character shapes communities,” the former Speaker said.

In a nation enriched by many cultures and beliefs, Romualdez said the observance of Ramadan strengthens the shared commitment to respect and understanding, adding that diversity is the “foundation of a stronger and more harmonious Philippines.”

“May this holy month inspire renewed hope, deeper solidarity, and lasting peace in Mindanao and across our country. May it encourage all of us — regardless of faith — to choose dialogue over division, compassion over indifference, and cooperation over conflict,” he said.

“Ramadan Mubarak. May Allah accept your prayers and fasting, and may He bless your homes with peace, mercy, and prosperity.” (PNA)
