Some 38 students participating in the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) began their work at different offices of the provincial government here on Monday.

In an online post, the Provincial Information Office reported that the students were endorsed to June Lee, executive assistant II at the Provincial Governor’s Office, for assignment to the different offices within the local government.

“It is the intention of Governor Eduardo Gadiano to give our students additional livelihood during their summer vacation,” the PIO said in a statement.

Students taking part in SPES will be working at different government offices for the next 22 working days and will receive a salary of about PHP568 per day.

SPES is a government initiative designed to provide temporary employment opportunities to students from underprivileged families during their school break.

The provincial government acknowledged the role of the DOLE as well as other national government agencies in extending provisional employment opportunities to needy students in this province. (PNA)
