A simple tahong vendor Marlon Tanael was minding his own business when he saw a backpack fall limp from a motorcycle in the middle of the highway. He got the backpack and simply set aside until it was time to close his store at 4:00 pm. After closing his shop located in Talaba II and brought the backpack home with him.

“Iniuwi ko po ito sa bahay at kinaumagahan ko na po binuksan para alamin kase po parang walang laman. Nakita ko po pagbukas ko, may brown envelope na naglalaman ng cheke na nagkakahalaga ng P15,000,147.80”

Tanael shares that he did not open the backpack until the next day because it didn’t seem like there was anything inside. When he opened the bag, there was a brown envelope which has a check worth over 15 million pesos.

On July 11, he went to the Imus Treasurers Office and gave the bag and manager’s check so that it would be returned to the rightful owner. After handing over the items to the Imus Treasurers Office, the items are now in the hands of Gramwil Pango.

Imus Councilor Tito Monzon will honor the integrity and kindness of Marlon Tanael by sponsoring a resolution.

Hopefully, Tanael’s kindness will return to him one day. We need more Marlon Tanael’s in the world that help restore our faith in humanity and society.
