WARNING: Spoilers ahead.

Ever since I can remember, I have dreamed of one day waking up with a midichlorian reading far surpassing that of Anakin Skywalker’s, sporting those famous monochrome drapes, wielding my own pair of signature lightsabers à la Ahsoka Tano, and journeying on an x-wing across galaxies far, far away to ensure balance in the force throughout the cosmos (#NerdAlert!).

Needless to say, I could not wait to see the final installment to the latest Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Fortunately, I was able to catch an early screening near my place at Commercenter Alabang. A unique addition to the whole moviegoing experience was a special trivia night of literally ALL. (canon) THINGS. STAR. WARS! The game was masterfully co-hosted by Commercecenter Alabang and Filipino quiz host Pop!Quiz. It was the perfect activity to whet all our (figuratively) Jabba-sized Star Wars appetites.

Overall, I was pretty happy with how they ended the series. The quaint, clean theater equipped with a high definition digital screen and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound system provided the perfect atmosphere for me to once again get lost in the Star Wars universe. Though admittedly there were some scenes which I would have much rather gone without (*read: that semi-traumatic and totally unnecessary ReyLo liplock), Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker proved quite a fitting conclusion to the series, all while paying homage to the original trilogy. The penultimate Jedi vs. Sith battle—a.k.a the Palpatine vs. Palpatine showdown—and the symbolic nod to Luke and Leia at the place where it all began was a truly cathartic moment for little ol’ me to witness on the big screen.

Needless to say, my childhood fantasy of becoming a Jedi was rekindled after that extremely fun and memorable Star Wars night.
