Residents of Kapalong now have easier access to government assistance with the official launch of the Tingog Center-Kapalong and a Congressional Help Center on Friday.

The initiative aims to streamline constituent services and strengthen community outreach.

The facility offers medical, medicine and burial assistance, serving as a centralized hub for frontline help, referrals and coordination with local government units and national agencies.

“We opened this center not only here but in almost all municipalities across the province to bring government services closer to the people,” Davao del Norte 1st District Rep. De Carlo Uy said.

“As long as someone needs help—we will cater to them. We have no limit.”

Kapalong Mayor Edgardo Timbol expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting its impact on local accessibility.

“What’s more important is that the services reached our municipality. We don’t need to go far,” he said.

On the same day, Uy signed a memorandum of agreement with Dr. Jonathan Alegre, medical director of JA Alegre Medical Clinic and Hospital, to expand the Department of Health’s Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially-Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIPP).

The program provides financial risk protection for patients admitted to the hospital, regardless of their place of origin.

“This program ensures that patients receive timely, quality healthcare without the burden of financial constraints,” Uy said.

Christine Mandayona, a member of the Ata-Manobo tribe from Barangay Gupitan, whose sister is admitted at the hospital, shared her appreciation.

“We all know that when we are admitted in a private hospital, it entails huge expenses. With this, it will really help lessen our medical bills,” she said. (PNA)
