Vice President Leni Robredo also visited the small-scale irrigation project benefitting the farmers of Brgy. Casiligan in Pola, Oriental Mindoro on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020. VP Leni, along with Pola, Oriental Mindoro Mayor Jennifer “Ina Alegre” Cruz, Vice Mayor Leandro “Dodjie” Panganiban Jr., barangay officials and members of the Rambucat Farmers’ Association, hiked a muddy three-kilometer trail to personally see the units of shallow tube well installed to improve the irrigation system in the farm.

The installation of the 12 units of shallow tube well and and 9 units of Pump Irrigation Systems for Open Source (PISOS) in Sitio Catmon was made possible through the funds provided under VP Leni’s locally-funded project.

The P1.9-million worth project would increase the productivity and income of around 60 farmers from Rambutan- Catmon (RAMBU-CAT) Farmers’ Association. It was completed in December 2019 in time for the dry season which starts in December until April of this year.

The rice production project is a flagship program of Pola LGU, which its then Mayor Leandro “Dodjie” Panganiban Jr. proposed when he participated in the Office of the Vice President’s Bridging Leadership Program in 2017.

While in Brgy. Casiligan, VP Leni also dropped by Casiligan Elementary School to greet the students there. (OVP)
