Circulated almost exclusively over social media, the little Cherub figurines from Sonny Angels have captured the hearts of many, selling out in most stores nationwide.
Originating from Japan, Sonny Angels was created by Toru Soeya, who based the name of the product on his nickname, Sonny.
As described on its website, Sonny Angel is a “little angel boy who likes wearing all sorts of headgear,” and its goal is to make everybody smile by staying by an individual’s side no matter what.
In addition, these figurines were described as being perfect in different places, such as in your house, beside the bed, and on desks to give a welcoming sight.
Before it dominated the internet, Sonny Angels was not really a mini-figure like what is available on the market today. These figures were first introduced with a size of 18 centimeters back in 2004.
Besides their cute features, these figures were also loved by individuals due to their different series and the challenge of getting random picks because of their blind box packaging.
“The major feature of Sonny Angel Mini Figures is that each series is comprised of 12 different figures (regular series). Sonny Angel utilizes blind box packaging; you do not know which figure you will receive until you buy one and open the box,” as written on their official website.
As of this writing, Sonny Angels has more than seven main variations of its products, such as regular mini-figures, hippers, artist collections, and master collections.
The hype surrounding these mini-figures was not only seen in the Philippines but all over the world. Last April, a gathering was held in Lower Manhattan just for the selling and trading of Sonny Angels.
Some individuals interviewed during the said event disclosed that these figures helped them heal their inner child and also motivated them to quit their vices by buying Sonny Angels as a reward to themselves.
Noting this positive feedback to individuals, highlighting the help of Sonny Angels to their development, there is no doubt that these figures are not just toys but also something that accompanies an individual in daily living.
