The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Negros Oriental has identified a women’s group based in the province to receive PHP1.2 million in livelihood grant.

The Nagkahiusang Kababayin-an sa Bantayan, with 28 members, will receive the assistance on Saturday during the Kadiwa ng Pangulo event at the Negros Oriental State University campus here, Rubie Cempron of DOLE-Negros Oriental said in a message on Friday.

The livelihood project is called Handloom Weaving and Rental Services, which is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program or DILIP, she said.

Meanwhile, 10 Kadiwa sellers participating in the weekend activity will also be paid temporary wages under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).

Cempron, the TUPAD focal person in the province, said each seller will receive some PHP5,100 equivalent to 10 days of temporary employment.

She explained that the computation is different for Kadiwa-TUPAD beneficiaries as the days for ingress, egress, and other costs such as transportation, are factored in.

“The sellers will be selling vegetables, fruits, and other products, especially locally-made ones, during the Kadiwa activity,” Cempron said. (PNA)
