The city government of Manila on Tuesday announced that aside from the front-liners, Manila public school teachers are included in the priority list of those set to receive Covid-19 vaccines once they become available.

Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said the Covid-19 vaccination plan of the city is based on the guidelines issued by the Department of Health and the Inter-Agency Task for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“Naririyan din po ang pangangailangan na mabakunahan ang lahat ng mga public school teachers sa siyudad (There is also the need to vaccinate all our public school teachers in the city),” Domagoso said.

On his Facebook page, Domagoso enumerated the sectors included in their priority list.

He said in a post that medical front-liners and hospital workers in all public and private hospitals and clinics across the city will be the first to receive the vaccines.

After the medical front-liners, next in line are barangay health workers and employees in all the city’s district health centers.

They will be followed by administrative staff and other personnel in all public and private hospitals and clinics across the city.

Next are senior citizens, Domagoso said, since they belong to a sector that is most susceptible to contracting the disease.

Also included in the priority list are the teachers and professors of the Universidad de Manila, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, as well as all the other public school teachers in Manila.

“Kasunod nito ay magiging prayoridad po natin ang mga nag pre-register sa www.manilacovid19vaccine.com (After those on the list, next in the priority list are all those who pre-registered using the www.manilacovid19vaccine.com ),” Domagoso said in his post.

With the list made public, Domagoso is encouraging all Manila City residents to register for the vaccine.

To recall, Domagoso already said that the Covid-19 vaccine may be received voluntarily and will not be given to those who do not wish to be vaccinated.

However, he also assured residents that the city will not be administering vaccines that are not approved by proper authorities like the Food and Drugs Administration.

He said this is to ensure the safety and efficacy of the vaccine. (PNA)
