To comply with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s new requirements, Philippine manufacturer NutriAsia has reformulated its popular products for the U.S. market. This comes after the U.S. FDA flagged Mang Tomas, UFC, and Jufran sauces in the country.

In their official statement, NutriAsia said they have reformulated Pinoys’ beloved sauces such as the Mang Tomas All Purpose Sauce in the U.S. to ensure their products are 100% compliant with regulatory requirements.

“As an example, in the Philippines, food products are legally required to use Potassium Iodate while the US FDA just very recently announced new requirements around this ingredient. As such, the discussion around Potassium Iodate today is not a safety issue but rather a regulatory requirement that varies by country,” NutriAsia said, stressing that compliance standards for food products differ from country to country, and may change at any time.

“NutriAsia prioritizes the safety and well-being of our consumers and will always immediately comply with regulatory changes,” NutriAsia added.

NutriAsia has already resumed shipment of the reformulated products to the U.S. from late August to early September this year but due to issues with global shipping, they arrived only last week.

They also told the Group exclusively that the U.S. FDA has approved the release of UFC Banana Sauce Hot and UFC Spaghetti Sauce. U.S. consumers can again look forward to enjoying the same great taste of their favorite Mang Tomas, UFC, and Jufran sauces.

“Together with Jufran Catsup (which was approved for release earlier), US consumers will soon see these products displayed on shelves very soon,” NutriAsia said.

On October 25, the U.S. FDA, according to its Import Alert (99-45), flagged NutriAsia’s products such as Mang Tomas All Purpose Sauce, UFC Sweet Filipino Style Spaghetti Sauce, and Jufran Banana Sauce for containing food additives such as BHA and potassium iodate, which pose cancer risks.

NutriAsia Inc. produces iconic Filipino food brands such as UFC, Papa, Jufran, Mafran, Mang Tomas, Datu Puti, Golden Fiesta, Locally, Chingu Cafe, and Silver Swan. It is one of the leading manufacturers in the country, exporting its products worldwide.
